The Georgia Mountains Youth Services Program has begun to partner
with the Stephens County Boys & Girls Club, Stephens County Adult
Education, Northeast Georgia Housing Authority, Stephens County
Schools and Stephens County Family Connections to provide a Youth
Transition Program.
The Program will target youth that have dropped-out of school and are
looking to improve their circumstances. All youth that participate in this
program will receive intensive case management, in which they will
report to a youth transition counselor at least once a week. Youth will
work on developing the skills they need to be self-sufficient,
self-confident and ready to join the workforce.
To be eligible for the Program, youth must be:
1. between the ages of 17-21
2. reside in Stephens County
3. low income
4. barrier to employment:
a. lacking HS diploma or GED
b. offender
c. pregnant or parenting
d. foster child
e. homeless or runaway
f. basic skills deficient
g. underemployed
NOTE: Not all youth that are eligible will be suitable for the WIA
Program. Please see a Youth Program Representative for more
details.
