Steps to Apply


  • Contact WIA office for required paperwork or download and complete forms from website.  
    E-mail forms to WIA Intake Staff member.

  • Apply for Financial Aid -- PELL & HOPE, if applicable.  (See also our Financial Aid Page.)

  • Receive acceptance letter from the approved provider stating chosen program of study,
    and fax it to the WIA Intake Staff member.

  • Do not sign any loan applications or contracts until WIA training is approved.

  • Forward by mail or hand deliver all paperwork to WIA office; and contact WIA Intake Staff
    member about progress and any concerns.

  • Complete applicable skills assessments -- CAPS, TABE, GCIS, CDM, ASSET, Mavis Beacon,
    O'NET-- and discuss selected training program and suitability.

  • If eligible, meet with the Case Manager to complete your Individual Service Strategy, and
    receive necessary forms.

  • Once in training, maintain weekly contact with Case Manager.

  • Within 30 days of completing training, update resume, visit placement office at school and
    Career Center to seek job search assistance.

  • Complete training and any required testing for licenses and certifications.

  • Go to work in the field in which you were trained.

  • Stay in touch with Case Manager every three months for a year after training to update your
    employment status.
